The administrative procedure for the Declaration of Regional Tourist Interest of Holy Week in Fortuna is already underway following the steps taken in recent months

Coinciding with the beginning of Lent, last night was the presentation of the poster of the Holy Week of Fortuna this year in the Church of La Purisima.

The image that will announce this festivity has been made by the local artist Fulgencio Martínez Sánchez and it represents one of the most emotional and fortune-making moments, such as the traditional roll of the flag that takes place on Easter Sunday.

During the ceremony, attended by the members of the Cabildo Superior along with members of the different brotherhoods, as well as political and ecclesiastical authorities, the author explained the reasons for illustrating this poster through this reference so characteristic of the Holy Week of Fortuna, key to other special moments such as the meeting or parade of the guans to understand and recognize the identity and the imprint of this celebration that advances to access the Declaration of Regional Tourist Interest.

Precisely, once the different administrative procedures have been carried out by the Cabildo and the City Council, the procedure for this declaration is already being processed at the regional level.

In fact, last January, the initiative of the City Council and the Cabildo Superior de Cofradías was presented at the Regional Assembly to seek the support of the different political groups that are part of the chamber.

A Declaration that will suppose a recognition to the work of the brothers, who year after year work so that the Holy Week of Fortuna continues being a referent of brilliance and fervor.

It is a deeply rooted tradition in the town, which can be traced back to the middle of the 17th century or the beginning of the 18th century, and which currently has 9 confraternities and 22 processional steps.

Reasons why, from the Fortuner consistory, consider that deserves to be declared as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest.
