The Minister of Health visits the works of the new building, of more than 3,000 square meters, which will come into operation next year
The new Fortuna health center will serve a population of up to 13,000 inhabitants, so it will have the capacity to absorb the natural growth of the population in the coming years.
The regional government has allocated nearly 3 million euros to the construction of this health infrastructure, which will replace the current one and in which special emphasis has been placed on emergency care, as it is a Continued Care Point (CAP) .
The Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, visited today what will be the future center to learn about the development of construction works, which are very advanced.
Villegas stressed that the new building will bring "the launch of new health services for users of this health area, such as dentistry, physiotherapy and socio-health care, which will prevent travel to other locations."
The head of Health added that it will mean "an improvement in health care offered to neighbors and the working conditions of Primary Care professionals."
The works are expected to be completed in October, later it will be equipped so that it can open next year.
This new care point will allow to expand and improve the area dedicated to the attention to the public with a greater priests room, a new observation room, another one of extractions and techniques, as well as an area for special procedures and minor surgery.
It also adds a new pediatric consultation, which will have two consultations and a pediatric nursing office, as well as a breastfeeding room.
General medicine consultations will go to seven and nursing to six, compared to the four and two that currently exist.
To this is added a versatile consultation, which can be adapted to future needs.
The women's care unit increases its size to provide it with a large exploration area and a multipurpose room is enabled so that it can be used for maternal education and childbirth preparation.
The new center is located on a plot of 2,828 square meters, assigned by the City of Fortuna, and has two floors and basement, as well as a parking area for the public.
The building has 3,268 square meters built.
The administrative unit, the adult and emergency unit, the consultation of the social worker, the physiotherapy unit, as well as the pediatrics, women and dentistry units will be distributed on the ground floor.
General medicine, nursing and multi-purpose consultations will be installed on the first floor.
The basement floor is reserved for the facilities and services of the building, warehouses and parking for the center staff.
In addition to the health center, the municipality has the La Garapacha office.
Primary Care Plan Investments
This work is included in the Program of Action for the Promotion and Improvement of Primary Care in the Region of Murcia (PAIMAP 2018-2022), which provides for an investment in infrastructure and equipment exceeding 70 million euros, in addition to another 14, 5 in increase in human resources, with the incorporation of 260 more professionals for the provision of services.
PAIMAP gathers four strategic areas to strengthen the role of primary care in improving the health of citizens and providing professionals with better means and working conditions.
Among them, the improvement of infrastructures stands out and includes the construction of new health centers, as well as reforms and maintenance of existing ones.
