Two people have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of cultivation and drug manufacturing, water fraud and animal abuse. The investigation began at the beginning of the month, thanks to citizen collaboration, when the Civil Guard was alerted to the existence of several dead dogs and others in a state of abandonment on a farm in the municipality of Fortuna. Troops of Prevention of Citizen Security went to the place where they found the state in which they were, tied with chains in full sun, two of them dead.

After providing them with food and water, one of the animals, which was barely able to walk due to its malnourished state, was able to get up. The agents detected that a strong characteristic smell of marijuana emanated from the farm, so the corresponding entry and registration order was requested. The record resulted in the location of a clandestine marijuana greenhouse consisting of two large rooms.

The more than 200 cannabis sativa plants found were in their final cultivation phase. The investigation culminated in the arrest of two people, a man and a woman, Spaniards, 38 and 36 years old, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of cultivation or drug production, animal abuse and fraud of electric and similar fluid. According to the investigation, the now detainees had occupied a rural house to establish the cultivation of marijuana.

For this they had fraudulently connected the water supply and had provided the premises with the necessary tools for the indoor cultivation of plants.

In addition, to guarantee the protection of the farm, they had several dogs, of a labrador breed, that they kept tied on chains in full sun, without food or water.

Two of these animals were found dead nearby. The Civil Guard has rescued the dogs, which were in a state of malnutrition and, in coordination with the city of Fortuna, has transferred them to an animal protection center. The detainees, the drug and the seized effects, as well as the investigative measures have been made available to the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 4 of Murcia.
