In the municipal plenary of last Wednesday, April 4, 2018, the Hon.
City of Fortuna (Murcia), has adopted PP Fortuna proposal, unanimous decision by the entire corporation, to ensure the effective application of the new regional law of animal protection and tenure in our municipality (Law 6/2017, of 8 November, protection and possession of companion animals of the Region of Murcia), which corresponds to both the collection and capture of abandoned and / or lost animals (Art. 32, b.), Enable suitable spaces, properly marked and delimited for the recreation with companion animals (Art. 8), the constitution of feline colonies to promote both the protection and the population control of street cats (Art. 25), and to ensure that there is no proliferation of helpless animals in our municipality (Art. 26) and;
as of the provision, as far as possible, of all the material support necessary for the development of the social activity of the Protective Association of Animals by the City Council so that Fortuna is a municipality with "SACRIFICE ANIMAL 0".
After the debate in favor of the protection and defense of companion animals by all political forces, Paquita Ruiz García took the floor on behalf of the local animal protection association;
to thank the unanimous new commitment of the town hall for beginning to change the direction towards a town in which the abandoned and stray animals are not exterminated, evidencing the need to deepen the educational and social awareness measures, hardening the penalties for mistreatment and abandonment, and emphasizing that everything does not remain in words, but that they begin to see facts already;
demanding both the constitution of an animal protection table for the elaboration of the municipal ordinance of protection and animal possession, and a periodic contact between the public administration and the animal defense entities, as well as the construction of a municipal shelter for abandoned animals and / or lost.
