The new Center for Social Amenities in 148 of Fortune expand the number of places for elderly and dependent (05/11/2009)

The new Center for Social Amenities of Fortuna, whose works will be completed over next summer, will expand by 148 the number of places in the municipality for the elderly and dependent.

The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, and the mayor of Fortuna, Matías Carrillo today accompanied by Minister of Health and Social Policy, Trinidad Jimenez, on the visit to the construction of the Centre for Social Amenities.

Subsequently, also visited the Voluntary Bus is in town today.

The center is being built on a plot of 8,500 square meters donated by the City of Fortuna, situated on the Place Machuca, Archena on the road.

The total project budget amounts to 4,020,160 euros, of which 3,700,000 euros Ministry provides for the central government's E Plan, the Autonomous Region € 240,000 and the city 80,160 euros.

The implementation period is nine months and, although the agreement ends December 31, is extended until June 30, 2010.

The complex consists of two centers, which form an architectural unity: the Day Care Centre for the Elderly and Occupational and Residential Center for Persons with Disabilities.

The first of these, in turn, consists of own Day Care Center and Senior Center.

More seats

By building these new facilities will create 60 new places day stays in the municipality, who will join the 20 currently on the Fortuna Municipal Center, funded by the IMAS.

In addition, the Occupational and Residential Center is available 60 new residential places and 28 occupational handicap.

Today, Fortune is an occupational center for up to 12 users.

Total public places in Day Care centers throughout the region amounts to 938, of which 375 are owned and funded 563.

With regard to occupational or day places during the current year 2288 have been funded, the 2,141 members of nonprofit organizations and 147 to municipalities.

Regarding residential places for disabled people, this year we have funded 130 to nonprofit organizations and 569 have been contracted to NGOs.

Also attending the visit the Secretary General of the Ministry, Fernando Mateo, the managing director of the Institute of Social Action Murciano, Isabel Sola, the director general of Immigration, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism, Leopoldo Navarro, and the director of the Office of Unit, Miguel Angel Miranda.
